Having a spa day at home can be just as relaxing and beautifying as a day spent at an expensive spa or salon. Pick a day when you won’t have any interruptions, turn off your mobile phone, and light some candles to set the scene. How to have a relaxing spa day at home?
Fill your tub with water at just the right temperature, whether you like it piping hot or just this side of warm. While the tub is filling, dim the lights and light some candles. Beyond that, you can help yourself relax even further by doing a few of your favorite things. For example: pour yourself a glass of wine, juice, tea, fruit punch, or some water! P.S. with our bathtub caddy you don’t need to worry where to put your glass while you take a bath :)
Choose the music
You can add some music to make the spa time more relaxing! Background music is important – silence can mean your brain fills it with cluttered thoughts but you don't want an overpowering playlist. The famous iTunes and other music sites will have ready-made playlists to inspire a feeling of zen. Try searching the web using keywords such as "spa playlists" or "spa music".
Light some candles
No matter is it the winter months or summer. Scented candles will help you to create a nice atmosphere and allow you to keep the room lit without having to keep a glaring light on. Perfect scents for a spa day include lavender, chamomile, rose, sandalwood, and ylang-ylang. The spa day with candles will be really awesome. You will get a lot of energy, boost your mood, and be relaxed.
Add bath salts, bath bombs, and other ingredients to the water. This is a great way to enhance your bath and give you the benefits of aromatherapy as well. You can use anything that you want. Because remember, this is your own spa. Feel free to add bubble bath, bath oils, bath beads, bath bombs, and anything else that helps you relax.
Bath+skin mask = a perfect match! Try a yogurt honey face mask to get soft and moisturized skin. Moreover, it makes applying makeup easier because it plumps the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles!
1 tablespoon plain yogurt;
1 teaspoon honey;
Dash of ground cinnamon;
Dash of ground nutmeg.
Mix in a cup or bowl and apply to face. It might tingle just a bit at first, that just tells you it’s working. Leave on for 7 to 10 minutes and wash off with warm water.
What about hair
Yes, you need a hair treatment at least once per week. For a natural conditioning treatment, try mashing up an avocado and applying directly to your hair for a shot of moisture and nourishment. Alternatively, for a protein-rich treatment, apply a beaten egg to hair, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse off with cool water.
The benefits of dry brushing are many. Therefore, your masseuse will often dry brush your skin after a massage or scrub. By using a bamboo-bristle you can exfoliate your skin, unclog pores, drain your lymph nodes, boost circulation, and reduce cellulite. Once you try this cool beauty secret, you’ll never turn back.
Regular exfoliation is important for every woman. It helps remove dead cells which can accumulate on the skin’s surface, leading to dull, dry skin. A homemade scrub is easy to make. All you need is some brown sugar and olive oil (mix the ingredients together). You can also add in some manuka honey, which is beneficial for both dry and acne-prone skin types, and some lemon or orange essential oil for an uplifting scent.
Treat your eyes
Did you know that cucumbers aren’t the only way to soothe tired eyes? If you are tired from staring at the computer screen for hours on end or after a day in the sun, we have a magic cure for you! Boiling two chamomile tea bags in milk. Place them in the fridge until cool. Place them on your eyes for 10 minutes to help refresh them (you can store these in the fridge for up to a week!).
The winter season may be really cold. Therefore, you need to take care of your hands. Combine a few spoonfuls of cold cream, two drops of tea tree oil, five drops of lavender oil, a spoonful of olive oil, and a banana (for a fruity smell) in a blender. When the consistency is smooth, slather liberally all over hands and cuticles. Then slip hands into a pair of yellow rubber gloves (or any other) and relax for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off the mixture with warm water and apply lotion. Easy and really effective :)
