The kitchen can be a hard place to organize – there is just SO much stuff and we all love our kitchen gadgets! Bring the chaos in your kitchen to order with these smart and affordable ways to organize your kitchen cabinets. Find a place for everything and enjoy your kitchen again.

STEP 1 – CLEANING

Sure, it can be hard to get rid of things, but you really do need to be ruthless when you purge. Obviously, anything that is broken or you no longer love or use needs to go.

For items that you use only once or twice per year, it would be better just to borrow a similar one from a friend or family member rather than keep it around your own home. If you are not sure if you want to keep something or not, set the item aside until the very end and see if there is even space left.

STEP 2 – MAKE THINGS ACCESSIBLE

Place items that you rarely use on higher shelves or towards the back of cupboards so that frequently used items can be grabbed easily. If you have a little chef in your kitchen, you definitely want to have a kids’ cupboard so that they can easily reach all of their own kitchen items.

STEP 3 – ARRANGE ITEMS BY ZONES

Try to group all similar items together and keep them closest to the area that you will be using them. Keep dishes, glasses, and silverware close to the dishwasher to make it quick and easy to put them away. Take advantage of vertical wall space with open shelves that extend to the ceiling. Open shelves let you display your prettiest kitchenware while making everything easy to spot and retrieve or put away.

Step 4 – COMMANDEER THE SINK CABINET

Choose stackable acrylic or wire shelving that fits under the sink to make the most of available space. Some wire bin units slide out to make it easy to retrieve items at the back. Add storage bins, shelves, and hooks inside doors for more storage. Also, consider including some specialty storage such as a holder for plastic grocery bags. Small tip for you: look for a kit that transforms the false drawer fronts on the front of the sink cabinet into tilt-out bins for stowing kitchen sponges and scrubbers.

Step 5 – DRAWER

When we have a lot of things to pay attention to while cooking – it’s important to have everything we need in one place.
To make sure all-time favorite things are in plain sight, get yourself a kitchen drawer organizer.
Use every slot in the most efficient way – everything you need within reach.
Plus, you can use it not only for utensils, but also for jewelry, office supplies, cosmetics, and whatever you want.

Step 6 – HANG MUGS

Because of their shape and handles, mugs can take up valuable space in cabinets. Hanging them by their handles from a shelf solves the problem while also keeping them in reach when you need your next caffeine fix.

Step 7 – STORE SMALL ITEMS IN BINS

This way, you can pull out the bin to get what you need, instead of having to rifle through the entire cabinet. Just make sure to add a label so you know which bin to grab.

Step 8 – LABEL YOUR CONTAINERS

Toss out any expired items, then transfer your most-used staples into simple labeled jars or bottles. Without the visual chaos of logos, you can easily find what you’re looking for.

Step 9 – PLACE ITEMS WHERE YOU USE THEM

If you always stand in front of the stove while cooking, you want everything you use when preparing meals to be as close as possible to the stove.

Don’t put your spices in a cabinet all the way on the other side of the kitchen and out of your reach, place them as close to the stove as you can. If you want your small kids to get their own snacks or dishes, place the items they’ll need in the cabinets they can reach.

Step 10  KEEP IT CLEAN

Most of us stash cleaning supplies under the sink, but consider using a vertical cabinet to store stick brooms and related cleaning supplies. It will move your gear from the coat closet and put them where you need them most: the kitchen.
